My wife and I are renting a cabin on the North Fork of the Nehalem river next week. I won’t be bringing the kayaks, but want to know if there are any steelhead or other prospects this time of year. Anybody on here fish the area lately?

I know a good spot close to me (Garibaldi) but I’m not sure if there running it yet.
If I’m available and the tides are right I have an extra kayak and crab traps if you wanted to hit the Tillamook bay. Not sure I’d have a wetsuit to fit ya though.

There a decent steelhead bite going on right now on the North coast & depending on your level of experience & confidence there it would be conducive to float some easy  lower sections of rivers in that area. The Nehalem is generally an early winter steelhead run & there is limited bank access, besides at the hatchery. If you'd like some more info on options & gear then send me a PM & I'll get you off to a good start at least. Fish on.

Thanks Mojo and Hugh! I would love to hit the salt, but this is supposed to be a weekend getaway with the wife and I would owe her big time if I left for half the day! Thanks for the offer!
