I should make it by about 7:00. Decided to sleep in an extra hour. Sounds like there will be a lot of us out there. Should be a great day!

In the fall, I dropped traps a few hundred yards south of the rock and got only a few crab. Headed inside and dropped again only a hundred yards or so off the beach tight to the cape, and got double limits in 45 minutes.

Just curious about the plural here...2 or 3?

First report goes to me I guess, my kid and I geared up at 0700 launched into not too bad as well after helping “unnamed kayaker” with his launching yard sale. I picked up 3 nice fish tacos to go and my kid KiLLERCLOWNFISH out fishes me again with a nice 26-1/2 ling after releasing an underling. No pick of the keeper on the water as I was helping him get it out of the water. Uneventful landing. Great day on the water 22+kayaks on the water, we outnumbered the Doryman today. That’s what we call an armada..... not a fleet!

Were there a few fishing the south side of the rock?  When I looked at the cam, it looked like a few boats and several hard to identify specs on the water in that area.

5 of us launched at daylight, limits of rockfish with 4 lings mixed between the 5 of us.  A couple really really nice cabezon released.  I wonder if I'm the one you saw wipe out on the way in.  First time it's happened to me in a dozen or so trips, but it was a good one.  Thought I was coming in behind the Big wave, until the BIG wave picked me up.  It was kinda actually refreshing in the dry suit after I was able to make sure all my leashes held my gear on.  I did lose my lucky fishing hat however.  It was a fun day!  Great to see so many kayakers out.

We went to the outer reef. Fishing was a little spotty out there today but I caught a couple nice 30” lings. My uncle and dad caught a ling or two out there also. The end of the day was a little eventful, but we figured it out and moved on.

The lings were full of squid and the Blacks were full of crab larvae.

Sounds like it was a good day in the salt.  Just curious how big the crab larvae were.  Could be time to tie some flies to match.

Being retired, they pay me when I go fishing, therefore I am kind of a professional fisherman.

Were you in a yellow outback? I saw a yellow outback tumble around 2:00. I tipped too. No biggy, all was secured other than my hand held radio but it floats and I was able to grab it.

While Como made an elegant exit to port, I was doing my best submarine impression.
Only thing missing was the aauuuugah siren sound.

I can't wait until the cab opener.  Lots of big cabs yesterday and small lings. 2 keeper lings and 2 rockfish limits between 2 of us. An uneventful landing put the icing on the cake for my first time out in Pacific city.
