I'd really like to try fishing out of Pacific City. Does NWKA have any group trip planned for the near future?
Thanks, Tim

Tim, folks are always heading to Pacific City whenever conditions look promising.  The coast is unpredictable and no one plans very far into the future, so keep an eye on the messages and you'll find an (unofficial) group expedition sooner or later.

Welcome to NWKA.

The fish bite twice a day - just before we get here and right after we leave.

Hey Tim,

I saw that you recently purchased a PA 14 and are looking into a drysuit.  I am glad that you have safety in mind!  The PA is a great boat but can be tough to get the kayak to the surf and do surf landings.  If you feel comfortable in the surf, then PC is a great place to fish.  If you are not comfortable with the surf i would recommend a trip to Depoe Bay.  The cool thing about these locations is that there are almost always several kayakers at each locations on a calm day.  If it is a weekend and the ocean is calm i will most likely be trying to fish and will post a message on the board.  I was hoping it would be this weekend, but it looks like it will have to wait.

That’s a big boat to beach launch and definitely requires wheels or a good 4X4 to get next to the water to rig, I fished pc with Delinkiezer and he had a Pa but he’s a young fit big armed fella. YMMV .... I fish Tillamook Bay when I can and have another kayaker going, post up your availability and I’ll find a good day for tides (we launch and land bye the tide there).

Thanks to all for the insight. I am a newbie but am not affraid of a challenge. I love kayaking and am looking forward to going out ocean fishing with someone who has been there and done it.
Regards, Tim

Hey Tim, Welcome to the addiction! I live out east of Lebanon and I am trying to fish as much as possible. I prefer to fish out of Depoe Bay instead of PC. Also a little closer for us South Valley people.

Fishing the jetty at Yaquina bay is a good option to try for some saltwater species.  I see an occasional post when someone goes out of south beach and opens it up to the forum.  It's a pretty friendly group.  Look into sunset bay also. A bit of a drive, but a sweet location to fish and not very surfy for a big boat like your PA.  Be sure you can self rescue and also right your kayak before you do the real thing!
