Looking forward to getting it all geared up and out fishing soon.

Hahaha thanks! it has been a problem so far, but a problem I am happy to have for now :-)
I bought it from REI and then I realized I didn't have how to transport it, so I went to Rack and Road and bought a rack and had it installed.
Back to REI and realized I didn't have straps to tie it down, so back in the store to buy some kayak bow and stern ratchet tie downs and cam straps. Got it home and began to order everything it doesn't come with, like paddle, pfd, scupper plugs, anchor, etc.
Just learning...

Hello again to everyone,  As mentioned before, I also am new to kayak angling and am looking for anyone in or around the Long Beach Peninsula who wish to get together for some fishing.   I have spent the last couple of months getting my truck ready for hauling my two PA12's.  Finally completed.  I will post pics after my trial run this weekend.  Looking forward to meeting up for some fishing or just leisure kayaking.

Anchors are always optional and arguably the last thing you should buy for a new kayak as a new kayaker.  Just saying.
The fish bite twice a day - just before we get here and right after we leave.

Thanks Tinker, I will keep that in mind and do some more research.

Welcome, congratulations, and whoa Nelly!

Get your kayak out on the water (a lake or pond) first and paddle around on it.  Get some simple bass, panfish, or trout fishing out of the way.

Then while you are doing this, and even after you get back home, reflect on the day(s) paddle and/or fishing and think about what you wish you had with you, and also what you may have already purchased and realized you may not need (yet).

Water isn't going anywhere, so you have time to experiment with where you may or may not need a rod hold, fish finder, etc....

And Tinker is onto something.  The anchor isn't used as often as one would think (starting out).

Again, welcome to the madness.  It just gets better as you gain experience with each trip and fish you catch.

You're welcome.  I forgot to add in a warm welcome to the NWKA family, so, "Welcome!"

If you read the organizer's posts for the 2017 NWKA Oregon Rockfish Classic (ORC), they've posted a pretty good list of the minimum safety equipment they require of all competitors - I don't think they've posted the list for 2018, yet.  Because that's an ocean competition, there are items in that list folks don't absolutely need until they're heading out in the saltwater, but I always think of it as a good resource for beginners to understand kayak safety and gear.

I second INSAYN's pearls of wisdom about using the Pescador and going fishing before deciding what you want or need for your Pescador or where you want to put it.  I have a big box of stuff out in the garage that I ran out and bought but haven't - and probably never will - use on my kayak.

You're in for a great time.  Buckle-up and enjoy the ride.

Welcome Coronel!! I have been looking at the pescador Pilot as a bass fishing lake kayak (not that it wouldn't work for everything else too.) There's not a ton of info or reviews out there on them so maybe post up a little something about it here.
