The state just announced that they're re-opening MA9 Thursday 7/26- Sunday 7/29 for hatchery chinook.  I wanna try my luck at getting a salmon from my kayak.  I have a downrigger, so I feel confident in being able to get my gear in front of fish, but I don't know the area well, and was hoping that people would be willing to share some of their knowledge with a greenhorn.  If there is anyone who is planning on going out for them on kayaks, and wouldn't mind someone tagging along, that would also be awesome.  I was planning to launch from Edmonds and troll my way up north.  Low tide looks like 11 AM, and high tide at 6:30ish.

Thanks!

No expert on Edmonds, but this is what I see for tides sat/sun

Looks like a lot of incoming tide ((11 feet) from 8 am on. Remember tide comes straight into Edmonds and +50% goes south and the rest north. I was blanked last weekend. Google the off leash dog park for a launch site south of the marina. You’ll crawl over some logs but after that a good site. Boats tend to head south toward the fuel docks. You’ll see them from the launch. Bottom got me flounder and rock fish. I moved up to 90 +- on the dr. And got two shakers.  Didn’t see a net. I’d suggest a little caution heading north from the launch in a big tide as you can interesect the ferry path. It’s just something to be aware of. More than likely the tide will push you south toward the fuel docks. The bailout back to the launch is a near shore return. All very obvious when there. Saw some folks trolling in close early am. Might get a king/blackmouth in close early on. Sometimes 20-30 fow.
I know folks get good fish there. I see a loop of boats 1/4 1/2 mile off shore to the docks and back. If you fish herring, watch for dog fish. It gets expensive. Get one, you’ll get lots. I switched to spoons, then plugs at a good speed and finally baloney sandwiches at home. Go gettem.
I’m hoping I can take a shot at point no point. The point will be frisky in that tide but trolling west toward the restraunt will put you in kind of a back ecie even on the incoming tide. It is a drive. Go for the weather and views and be happy to get some salmon in the yak.

I'll be fishing 9 tomorrow morning then dropping down south to little-known spots in the afternoon. Area 9 quota is at 85% as of this morning.

There's a good launch site there except of the piles of logs and no way to crawl/wheel around them.  I tip mine half the time.  I called the parks maintenance department as asked if someone could clear just a 3-4 foot path near the parking area and got what felt like a pretty acceptable response.  They were going to see if a crew was in the area and clear the easiest (for them) route. So, if you launch there, we might have a slot somewhere along the beach.  Might be worth a quick walk toward the marina to see if they created one.  Very nice response so if they do, let me know and I'll call and thank them back through the mayors office.
