With fall salmon starting to show, where is a good place to launch a kayak to fish near Drift Creek? I would also appreciate any tips or location advice. I have never caught a Chinook from the kayak. My main experience on the Alsea has been from a drift boat around Kozy Cove.

I know of three public sites you can launch from to reach Drift.  Of the three, Taylor Landing is the easiest.  It's the little county park on the west side of the Hwy 34 bridge over the river, a few miles east of Drift Creek.  There isn't a developed launch site here, but I've put in with my Revo 13 a few times and it's not too bad.  The other two spots you can launch from are Eckman Lake (high tide only) and where May Road crosses Drift Creek (launch below the bridge, then paddle down Drift Creek to the mouth).  Whichever launch you choose, you'll have to paddle/pedal a few miles to reach the mouth of Drift Creek.

Taylor Landing is nice in that there's good fishing water from the landing all the way to Drift Creek.

If you've got $10, you can launch at the marina at the Drift Cr. RV park and paddle straight across. Whatever happened with that new county ramp just down from the bridge at Tidewater? Did that ever get built? I have not been by there recently.

Is Taylor Landing the name of the new county land? I was thinking you (Clayman) meant the RV park up from the bridge.

I have used that county park to launch my kayak many many times. Easy drag/wheel down to the river, easy drag up. Nice troll down to Drift Creek.

No new construction ramp near Tidewater and I hope there never will be.
