as expected, seal added to underside of hatch lid. Based on my boat, this fixes the leak.  Hobie will ship the new seal directly to early boat buyers, their dealer just needs to request it from Hobie and provide the owners address.

Crazy they shipped them without field testing. That's a pretty serious design flaw. I saw the video below and I was wondering if it was just a defect in his kayak or if they were all that way. Hope the fix works for ya'll.

yeah that guy is an idiot trying to drive people to his advertisement filled Youtube channel...I got a good seal on my boat using a similar type of weatherstripping, I'll replace that with the free Hobie piece when I get it. 

I have a feeling (based on what happened when I flipped my 2012 PA12 on the Umpqua) that there are a whole lot of people out there with kayaks that have similar front hatch covers, and unless they have ever rolled them over, they have no idea whether they are getting a good seal or have a big leak.
