There should be a whole new stocking of the jumbo rainbows into Beaver Lake on Thursday and I just happen to have Friday as my first day off work. If the weather isn't bad (currently looks clear, but cool), I'm considering heading down to Beaver Lake to try to remove up to five of those jumbo trout. Anyone else up for that? I'm planning on trolling but don't have any religious objections to throwing bait at them if that's what it takes.

Jason,

They stocked it today.  Had to work to get fish and one snapped my UL rod in the rod holder!  Luckily I had my trusty Barbie Rod from the Sturgeon Social as a backup and caught 3 fish on that!

Good to know that it's already stocked, so the fish will have a couple days to get hungry before I have a day off work.  :)

The weather looks like it's going to cooperate. It will be chilly, but low chance of rain and only very light winds. Anyone else coming out to Beaver Lake tomorrow morning? I'll be in a seagrass green 2019 Outback.

I won't be able to make it today as I have other commitments but good luck!  Let us know how you do.

I went out today and got there a bit later than I wanted to. I was on the water by about 8:30, and by 10:30 I was throwing fish back because I had four in the catch bag and didn't want to be done fishing. I caught a couple more and lost a couple more but the bite seemed to die around 11:30 or so. I tried a few other tactics and ended up finally getting one more fish that would make my fifth keeper to fill out my limit around 2:00 or so. The fish seemed to hit when I could find concentrations of them on the fish finder, and I caught them trolling on multiple things. They weren't yet up to the upper end like they have often been recently. That may be because it's only been three days since they were stocked or for some other reason that I don't understand.

Regardless of my lack of understanding, I brought home five really nice size trout out of around 10 caught and a few more lost mostly on purpose once I saw them. I didn't weigh and measure them as I cleaned them because it was 34 degrees and I was freezing. Most of them were about the same size, around 3 lbs or so. The one on the top that's in the oven now with dill, thyme, lemon, salt and pepper just barely fits diagonally in a 9x13 baking dish with it's head cut off. I don't really like trout that has been frozen, so I am evidently eating trout five different ways within the next day or so.

It was a really fun day on the water, without a single rain drop or wind above around 5mph. I got to try lots of different lures and never had resort to bait, although I would have if necessary and I had it with me.  ;D

I forgot to add the trophy picture, so here it is. My kids helped prepare the fish for the picture... :D
