truck shell transporting

 just picked up a thule "goalpost" to help loading hobie revo 13  gunnel side down as recommended, on top of my truck shell  i have a couple bars up there for a rack ( which is kinda high up there and awkward for old fart like me to load and unload ). so far i used the swimboat? something like that, it was a big roller 1st time yak slid off when i was unloading at angle it went back and exchanged for wheel and saddle cradles, still have those but same thing, dumped the yak when unloading or maybe it was loading? plus i didn't like it riding in cradles.    it`s a new to me truck and used to the ease of my trailer but would like to cartop it on certain outings and make that a easy thing to do, without scratchin the paint!! really hoping this goalpost will do it???   anyone use one of these things??? .

What kind of truck do you have? I have been called an old fart myself . So I know what you mean. I transport my 11ft Hobie Outback in the  bed with the tailgated down. I place pool noodles fore and aft under it in the scupper grooves. A friend caries his 13ft Old Town Predator in his full-size bed utilizing a bed extender hitch.

toyota with a fiberglass shell.  want to be able to load and unload the top and still have storage in the back. was gonna go with a thule t-bar but not sure they are even making those anymore as well as the strongarm?  this hopefully will do what i want. at least give me the angle to load/unload.

Just modify the bars you have with a couple of short risers so it can’t go sideways while pushing it up on top. I used a Malone seawing at first with my big tuna.

mojo got any ideas for some clean looking risers? that probably would do it.  am taking this goalpost back won`t work for me.(it will and it won`t) am going to trailer til i figure somethin out
