Had a lovely evening throwing tight loops to leaves and things all over the pond in my backyard. I'd lost my Clouser on a back cast in an Oak about an hour before, but it was just nice trying to cast to targets at various distances with the least number false casts.
The mosquitoes got thick and I went inside and broke down my rod, but left the leader trailing. I set the rod against the living room wall and did some honey-do's before honey came home (Insurance for my fishing passes) Figured I'd tidy up and vacuum.
To shorten an already long story, the vacuum found the leader and before I could blink, I was almost into the backing and that awful crack told me my 9' 6wt was now 8' and had a lot faster action.

Strong vacuum. ::)

I'm glad I'm not the only one..........

That's funny as heck when someone else does it!  Thanks for the laugh!!!

What brand vacuum?? ??? I'd rather know what brand rod!!

I have some sad stories, too. Like rolling a vehicle window up (in the dark) and hearing multiple *snaps*.    :angry8:

Oh man... sorry.. I gotta laugh... :toothy12: Not at you snapping your rod, but more what your reaction was probably like. Hope it was a cheapo rod.

It was my favorite cheap Scientific Angler. Man, I really liked that lil buggy whip. :angry2:

Oh well, gave me an excuse to score a new TFO. Six times the price but it does have a replacement guarantee ::)

It does throw a whole lot nicer though.
(either that or I'm seeing the emporor's new clothes) ;)

That is one sad story :D  But I can see it was necessary for something like that to happen to force an upgrade.  You won't regret getting a TFO.  I have two of them (6wt and 8wt, both are the Series One, nine footers), and am expecting to find (later today!) at the P.O. a nearly new Jim Teeny TFO 4-pc 9' 4wt. I scored used online, supposedly in mint cond. with a blank warranty card.
TFO is great with the customer service/warranty replacement. I broke the tip of my 6 wt TFO the fist time by trying to push a fly off a submerged log. Second time was recently when I had it sticking out the back of my U-12 when I was using another rod, facing upstream, and the current backed me into a piling...SNAP! Only $15 plus your own shipping/insurance cost and they will send you a new rod! I haven't even gotten around to sending it in because I have been using my "el cheapo" Scientific Anger 6wt, which is almost tolerable for casting, for trolling wooly buggers in the lake. (Got it for $12.99 on sale).

Hard to beat the kind of warranty service TFO has. I dug out the warranty stuff and have a tube to ship it in...just gotta get on it. I hope I don't have to wait for my Sci Angler rod to break before I am motivated!

Anyhow, that was hilarious!  What i can't believe is that a savvy kayak sturgeon fisherman would also allow that kind of thing to happen ;D
