Great White Shark leaves calling card on Sea Venture I off Newport

The Newport Tradewinds’ excursion boat Sea Venture I gave its passengers quite a thrill today when this 12′ Great White Shark came out of nowhere – jumped up out of the water and ripped a fish right off somebody’s hook. It happened just offshore from Lost Creek State Park Sunday afternoon.

Nobody hurt. But you can bet they’ll never forget that split second when they saw the huge gaping mouth that could swallow a sofa. The captain quickly surveyed the area checking to see if any surfers were in the area. Fortunately there weren’t any.

Just proves when you leave the dock, you’re at the mercy of the deep blue sea.
