Checking to see what alternatives to the standard 12v SLA people might be using.  I know there's the 'ol blue brick:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Pro-DC12V-9800mAh-Rechargeable-Portable-Li-ion-Battery-US-Plug-Battery-Pack-EG/222383802270

Good price but the quality always varied from battery to battery, and they don't seem to withstand that many cycles.

Googlin' around I see some other stuff.  Anybody use any of these (or anything else)?

This looks nice, but pricey:

Then there's this, WAY pricey

https://www.austinkayak.com/YakGear-Lithium-Vortex-12v-20AH-Battery/ACK27005P.html

This looks kinda interesting.  A lighter, drop-in replacement for the SLA.

https://dakotalithium.com/product/dakota-lithium-12v-10ah-battery/

or it's cheaper, 7Ah sibling:

The Dakota lithium seem to be pretty popular. I haven't had the chance to use one yet.

I got a multi-purpose power bank last year for various uses besides powering my 597ci HD (550 mA draw). I was able to use it for two full days powering my ff. I don't remember the remaining charge status afterwards, but I think it can probably go at least another two.

I went this direction last year.  Simply replaced an existing 7ah lead acid battery.  _Much_ lighter and significantly longer run time that what I'd had previously.

That's interesting.  I was thinking of going down the "power bank" road, but my last experience was bad.  I had the 587ci and I rigged up the battery in the pic.  Seemed to work great at first, but after a while I couldn't get any sonar.  When I replaced the transducer, same thing.  When I tried a different head unit (I had an older one in the garage), same thing.  I really think the anker was somehow cooking my transducers, because even when I tried SLA power they wouldn't work.

I don't have a ton of electrical chops, but 12v should be 12v, right?  I could have just gotten a defective one.  Or maybe there was a setting on the battery itself I was missing.

Cool.  Would you have any rough estimate on how long it would last?  I know finders and settings vary, just wanting a rough idea.

I've been running this battery for about 6 months now, I had the 10,000mah version previously but managed to lose it somehow on a trip home from the coast. Keep in mind you want to ensure these batteries stay completely dry as they're not intended to get wet like a SLA battery can, I shove mine in a drybag and haven't had any issues.

I was afraid you'd ask that  ;)!  Only rough estimates, based on my Lowrance 4hdi...  Back to back days (6-8 hrs each) fishing at "ORC" was no problem without topping off.  B10 fish camp, 5 straight days - only recharged the battery once during that time.  Of course 1 fish limits had me off the water within a couple hours on a couple of those days :).  Only one full day with 7+ hours.  Unfortunately, I don't remember specifics of discharge state when done.

I found all day use no problem/worries for this battery.

I've been using a Weego jumpstarter battery for 3-4 years now and I really like it. I've fished 2 long days without coming close to using it up.

I think another member here had one spontaneously burst into flames in his house, so there's that.

I actually just received this battery.  Interested to try it out.  Good bit larger than the 9800mah version.  Do you use a "smart" charger or the one that came with the battery?

No battery expert here, so wanted that out of the way right up front.  But 12V is not 12V.  Most fully charged SLA batteries will hit 12.7 V.  Voltage drops as battery charge is depleted.  FPV power sells an inline voltage regulator which should be used in line with the Fish Finder power connection.

Your power bank voltage is one thing but the amp draw that can be provided by the power bank is another major concern.  You have to add up all of the amp draw requirements for all of your equipment that you want to run at the same time and get a battery that will deliver that amp requirement with some extra room for a buffer.

This thread has good timing in that I am trying to finalize my electrical rigging and am currently shopping for a power source as well as a controller.

I found this battery with great reviews, but not for the faint of heart as far as $$$ goes:  https://www.mariner-sails.com/inew-175-ah-kayak-batter-and-charger.html

That battery with a new 8 circuit Yak power system with a Berleypro Orb for a light and a few power outlets, Y spliter, power regulator for the FF, etc and it was quoted to me at over $700.

I didn't bite on the complete system.  I'm still considering the battery and doing my own wiring and getting away from the expensive plug and play alternatives.

Sorry that this is getting long but I edited to add these waterproof connectors for our kayak connections.  You'll wonder why you ever did it the old way:
