Looking out on the forecast, mid-week next week looks to have potential. Anyone else looking at that? Have not made it out of PC yet so if anyone is looking at that let me know.

I have literally been DIEING to get out of Depoe! I hadn't been watching, but I will now. As crappy as work has been, I think a sick day may be in order.(cough cough).

If the wind forecast improves, I might take a day off to fish Depoe.  A lot of commercial boats are mopping up squid along the Waldport coastline lately, which should be attracting salmon to within kayak range.  But I despise short period waves, and the 4 feet @ 7 seconds forecasted for Tuesday doesn't look appealing.

Still learning. Looking out what do folks think about May 4-6. Not big swells, longer swell spacing, modest wind. I know it is a ways out, but just looking for thoughts on those conditions if the actually materialize

5/1 looks doable if your out and limit in a couple hours then cruz back in once the wind STARTS to pick up(don’t wait long it only gets worse) and no I can’t go as it’s the day after my kids birthday and I may or may not have a hangover and since I’m in the process of moving 3 12X20 storage units to a 2 bay double deep shop with a storage loft I’m too damn sore to think about fishing right now!

i can only see til the 1st. don`t really get excited until 1 to 2 days before going. forecasts change too much most of the time til then. the 1st does look doable right now. but since we talked about it probably change, it likes doing that.

My forecast sites don't go beyond May 2 right now.  I agree with Painter and Mojo on May 1 having some potential.  But spring wind forecasts are prone to changing on a dime...I feel the forecasts are more accurate in the winter when they're identifying decent days in between incoming storms.  This time of year, you hope for something to roll in and weaken the pressure gradient, like a weak front.  Those long stretches of bright-n-sunny days usually result in a blown-out ocean.

And always have a backup plan bay, lake, or river.... nothing worse then a fishing trip with no fishing..... and no the meat counter at Safeway don’t count!

Long ways out so not counting on it. Just seems to the untrained eye that Wed 5/7, if it holds, would be a good day to be out. Just checking my logic.

If that’s what it still says the day before, then yes that’s a doable day.

Wednesday looks like a dream day right now.  I may have to take the day off work if it holds.

Forecast with wind like that you might want to plan to launch at first light and plan on being off the water before 10:00
