Hey folks I want to learn about the b10 fishery. I know the rigs to run. But I'm unsure on where to actually fish  and the best places to launch. I'm looking to head out this weekend so if anyone is going out and wouldn't mind me tagging along that would be great

A buddy and I launched out of fort Stevens today not one bite. We only saw one fish landed as well it was slow and the wind kicked out butts.

Way to get out there - I'd heard the wind really picked up yesterday.  I'm not ready to fight these big tide swings this early.  Smaller sets coming...

I'm also new to the area and Buoy 10 but not to salmon fishing on big water.  Its my understanding that the small tides down there the next few days can be very productive.  So, weather permitting, I'd like to give it a go either Saturday or Sunday.  Will anyone else be fishing the area?

FYI, next weekend is a free fishing weekend in Oregon.  May take a trip that way to fish those waters or at least the Oregon side of the lower Columbia.  Hit me up!

Your WA license is good on the Columbia no matter where you fish or launch from.

Anyone have input they're willing to share on tactics for different tide situations in the lower estuary? I searched the forum before posting but I'm not good with computers. I know the tides aren't ideal, but if the wind forecast holds up,  I'm planning to get down and fish this coming Tuesday and Wednesday either off the north entrance in the ocean, or inside at the shipwreck during the incoming and slack highs. I've seen boats face into the incoming tide and basically back troll upstream, is this something anyone's tried from their yaks? I've only fished the jetty inside off Waikiki beach on a day with a 6' exchange. Didn't catch anything but it was worth it to finally take a shot down there. Hoping to add another 1st this season with a Columbia King.
They might sound ill advised, but when I tell folks of my exploits, it's rare I don't find them smiling

Tides forecasts are misleading there. You want current forecasts.  Maybe you already know that.  If not, it is the most accurate measure of the water speed ie. how much effort you will put in and when that the peak speed is.   It does not match up with the high, low, and slack tides.  For example below -from today at Hammond- the point where the current was 0 kt was about an hour and a half after low slack. Tide chart on top, current on bottom. This is important when say a person wants to ride the tide out towards B10 from Hammond on a big tide swing.  If you go by just when slack tide is, you will quickly learn that you will get to your destination far quicker than expected resulting in you fighting the current for an hour and a half more than you want to prevent yourself from being washed out to sea.  Or, you find a beach and wait it out. This gem of information would have been valuable to me several years ago when I first started fishing it from a kayak.  I hope it is valuable to you as well as other new folks.  This is from fishweather.com, a great resource for all things fishing weather related. https://www.fishweather.com/spot/49699

The ocean may be a good bet because it is supposed to be flat.  I fished Hammond today saw lots of bait near shore by the boat basin and had a Chinook on about ten minutes after launching so it looked like it would be a great day.  Sadly it was the only bite three of us had, we saw very few caught, and that Chinook was released because it was a stinky wild tule Chinook. In fact I never took it out of the water due to not wanting to stink up my kayak or dry suit and because I intended to release it.

Anyone planning on going out this coming weekend? I have been itching to get out for several months now and would like to hit either the B10 fishery or Pacific City (pending surf). I'd like to find some kayak fishing buddies not only for the cameraderie, but also for safety. I'm pretty experienced in the Columbia freshwater fishery, but I'm nOOb in the salt. If y'all are going I'd love to accompany - PM me or otherwise.

Pacific City is looking at a forecast of 5.6 foot at 14-15 seconds.
Not happening for this yakker.
Depoe is doable, though 5.6 is at the sharp edge of my comfort range.
You will want to look at the river this weekend.
