Well, Plans changed a bit for todays expedition. Roy(bluetrident) had to haul crab gear, Paul(PNW) was dubious about the Sturgeon bite on the Umpqua because of the cold weather, so he and I decided we would launch at Charleston and fish what they call "the cribs"(don't know why they call it that) for Cod.

We met at the Basin Cafe for breakfast at around 8AM. The bar has those stools with the single tube and the seat looks like a snare drum stffed with padding, very snall seat area. I was wearing my splash bottoms which are kinda slippery. When i stepped up and sat on the stool, i slipped straight off the back and slammed down on my back, my wallet and keys which were in my hands went flying in two directions of the restaraunt. I'm a little sore but i think i escaped any real injury. Scared the hell out of me cause i have a surgically repaired back. I hope tomorrow it doesn't hurt too much, me and Dave(goldendog) are gonna go Sturgeon fishing.

As for the fishing,The bite was way off, the water was murky and churned up. The rip was real bad on the outgoing too. So, after a couple hours without as much as a nibble, we decided to call it a day and started home. We stopped at some of the pilings at the entrance to the harbor and tried for some Perch for about 45 minutes, with the same results as the cod fishing. I did get a couple bites, then nothing after that.

This is the one and only picture i bothered to take. A beautiful pic of Pauls back.... I'm one track minded when im out there ...fish ...fish ... fish!!.

See ya on the water..
Roy

Damn Roy!  Sounds like you're on a mission this year.

Guess I might have to wait a year to start surfing full time again.......  On second thought, if you keep doing things like launching yourself off bar stools I won't have to.   :P

Glad to hear you didn't do any serious damage!
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  --Mark Twain

Gald to hear yer allright CBY, take care of that back!
sorry to hear yer out fishin' already this year, gonna make it harder for me to catch up after Dr's release at end of this month.
The rivers here (Chetco and Smith in Ca.) are very high, I'll wait for them to recede a bit this year.
