I think that pink salmon in full color/morphology are cool fish. I have never caught a pink and would like to make the trip up this season. Can any of the Washington folks recommend where/when to go? Should I fish the skykomish around Monroe? Or lower on the Snohomish? Or on the west side near Hood Canal, maybe the Skokomish? Go now or wait until mid-Sept? Can anyone give me some tips? Feel free to send a PM.

Snohomish and Sky are closed for pinks. It might get announced that a 3 day opening for them on the lower Snohomish for the Sept 1-3, but it won't be worth it, it will be a 1 fish limit. I've heard the lower Duwamish is putting out pinks, and there is a 6 fish limit for pinks there. Pinks will be around for maybe another week before they all have pushed into the rivers. This might be the last good weekend before coho start showing up. Other options would be in area 8-2 around Mukilteo or Area 10 around Edmonds.

I should have done my homework and looked thru the regulations before asking. But looking at the regs now.... my head is starting to spin. These WA regulations are difficult to browse.

The Duwamish looks to be a very urbanized river and closed past the 212th St bridge.

I see the Humptulips as being open in the reg book. Does that river get a run of pink salmon??? Im not looking to fill the cooler with bright fillets, just catch and release on some pinks that are colored up.

WDFW announced on Aug. 30th that you can keep 2 more Pinks in the lower Puyallup. Sorry can't copy the notice and paste it. Using the phone app for their updates.  You'll have to check the website
As of July 12th, I am, officially,  retired.

The puyallup is usually pretty good for pinks. Although if you're talking about the outside color you want them silver not brown... basically when the color turns they are dieing. I've caught some late September that are literally alive and starting to rot. It's not cute or good eating. When they're running they are fun to catch though. I like the carbon more. It feeds into the puyallup. It opened sep 1st I believe. Not as many fish but it's much less crowded.

There are still pinks in the sound, my dad caught one today at Ft Casey.  Not as many jumpers as last week though.
