Please, have a laugh or two at my expense. Insult me too even. Just don't tell me what I could've done different because I'm still crying inside.  :happy1:

Blargh!!!   :(

I found this mini aluminum baseball bat on Amazon that I use to relentlessly smack my fish on the head with right before bleeding them out. Everyone within 10 miles knows when I catch a fish because it's ridiculously loud.

It’s unfortunate but still had a great day & took home a beautiful bright native to feed the family. The fish was bonked, Gilled, bled and sure as shit dead. The situation was it was an insane fight, the fish was very long, top heavy with massive shoulders, and I was still clumsily shaking from the fight. I should’ve secured it before celebrating. Lesson learned.

Glad to hear you didn't go home empty-handed.  :)

I see now where the video was edited to cut out the bonking and bleeding. I haven't caught a King yet, much less one of that size. When that day comes, I will definitely be sure to get it on my stringer as quickly as possible lol.

Man. I feel the pain. That's a kick in the stones.i lost one today. Hooked on the trailer hook, fish shook its head on the scoop, top hook caught the net, fish dove and pop. Didnt even have time to give my net to the fish. 0-6 last sunday 0-2 today.

I've been there and done that with a 30 plus inch lake trout which I bonked, but then dropped when I was lifting it out of my net. It's a bad feeling to watch a perfectly good dead fish slowly slide down out of sight below your kayak. As a result of that boo-boo, I adopted the practice of bonking fish in my net, and then hooking them on a stringer before lifting them out of the net, bleeding them, and gutting them. The stringer is on a cord which is long enough that I can leave my fish on the stringer until they are safely inside my cooler and on ice.

Ouch, that stings! Like others have said, it's best to get the game clip or stringer on them while they're still in the net. I don't consider my fish being officially "landed" until it's on the game clip and secured to the kayak.

OH man that hurts!  I had a loss this summer out on the ocean after ORC.  Had my second coho in the net, net still in the water checking for fin.  See that its a no finner and go to bonk it.  As I make contact, it found a hole in my net and swam off.  We followed the glitter trail for a bit, but couldnt find the fish.  still hurts today.

OW, ow ow ow.

I recently watched a blooper of a kayak guy putting his prize catch onto the stringer and promptly releasing the grasp only to realize that his game clip was NOT secured to the kayak.  So, it's never yours until it's really yours.

Oh buddy! That's the worst! But the dejected sigh at ~46 seconds is the funniest thing I've seen in a long time... well, I mean, it's funny for me.

Sorry bro. Thanks for sharing for our enjoyment and also so we can all learn from it.
