The weather for Thursday is about as good as it gets here in Portland mid-winter.  A bit chilly maybe, but sunny and not too windy.   Better yet, the marine forecast looks good (~3 ft waves, light winds).  Most of the junk is out of the Willamette and the sturgeon should be biting.  Oh, and the rivers are dropping and should be prime for steelhead.

After last winter I've learned to try and take advantage of these sorts of day.  I have a pass from the wife and I cleared my schedule at work, now I just need someone to fish with.

Anyone up for fishing Thursday?  Right now I'm willing to go anywhere within about a 2 hour radius of Portland for just about any type of fishing.

Anyone??? I really don't want to go to work on Thursday knowing that the weather and water conditions are finally nice for fishing.

Maybe you'll want to scout some lakes for Sunday's action? ;D

Thursday's marine forecast sure is looking sweet-

Or maybe if you don't want to get out on the ocean alone ... hit a jetty or a rocky outcropping.  Should be some nice lings coming in shallow.

I think I'd be safer in the kayak than rock hoping along a jetty.  I nearly killed myself on the Bodega Harbor jetty a few years ago.  Ended up hobbling back to with a minor sprain.

Where are all these newly unemployed people I keep hearing about?  What's the point of a recession if you don't fish more?

I even have an extra kayak/paddle/pfd/rods etc. that someone could borrow.

Actually Wali started all this.  He's in town frantically packing so that he can rent out his house.  He thought he'd have more free time, but I guess he's a bit behind.

Anyway, I've cleared my schedule to fish, but my wife likes me to have a fishing buddy just in case.

Thanks Allen,

Actually, Wali thought he was leaving on Friday.  Turns out he leaves on Thursday.  So I doubt he can make it anyway.

Hmm, how far is Coos Bay?

This is Pacific City today. Tomorrow is forecasted to be even flatter.

4 hours from PDX to Coos Bay in good weather... and with that weather Sunset Bay should be awesome.  Wish I could join you but I'm stuck in meetings all day.

Have you considered any of the lakes in the Gorge for planter trout?

At 4 hours away, Coos Bay is almost an option.  As for planters in the Gorge, that's certainly an option too.
