I'm not sure about the 5, but I have the 4 and it doesn't have any detailed maps or detailed nav. All I get is an arrow and a line for where I've been. I think navigation to a waypoint was also there. I'm sure there is models with maps included  but i never looked that deep into the Garmins.

looking at the Garmin specs on their website: https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/576390#specs
That particular model doesn't appear to have any mapping/charting, just GPS (for location and waypoints).

I think you need to buy the Striker Plus models to get mapping. I discovered that a while after buying a Striker 4cv, which I then regretted because the price difference was minimal.

For me, it's not about seeing the shoreline on my Fishfinder unit, it's about having a chart and knowing my location on that chart by an active GPS.  I have a handheld GPS that can do this, and that's what I rely on for primary marine navigation.  My fishfinder map is a backup with the chart/map/location.   I have a Lowrance Hook 4 with a map card.  I definitely wouldn't go offshore in the salt without a primary and backup for GPS navigation...but that's me.
