My name is Aaron, 31 years old and lifelong Oregonian. I have been fishing my entire life mainly down in southern Oregon with my grandparents who have a boat but in the past ~10 years post-college I've been doing the bank fishing thing up in my area for salmon and steelhead. I recently sold my Pelican 10' SOT Kayak (that I wasn't fishing out of) for a new Hobie Outback.

I have started to collect gear, watch videos on YouTube and reading forums answering my questions. I want to start fishing in lakes for trout/kokanee and when I get more comfortable I want to try rivers for salmon then ocean for salmon and bottom fish. If anybody has any recommendations or input on the following items I am all ears and am in the market to buy (Kayak Cart, gear storage system, Rod Mount/Holder and flag). My main concern with my kayak is that I am a large guy, 6'4 and about 275lbs so I am trying minimize gear weight and maximize utilization of the boat.

I attached a recent picture of the boat, how I plan to transport it and myself with some fish from last week. I look forward to learning tips and tricks from everyone on here.

Wow, that's a well organized garage! Oh, and welcome to the group. I too live in Beaverton (Murrayhill) and mostly fish the Willy for sturgeon and the salt for fish/crab. Maybe our paths will cross.

I live in NW Portland and look forward to fishing with you sometime. Like how you strapped your truck to the top of your kayak.

I knew the carrying capacity of the new Outbacks were good but I think putting a truck on it might be too much  ;D

Just giving you a little sh*t.  Welcome aboard.

I like my Hobie outback.  Just don't tell me you sold or traded that beautiful aluminum boat for your outback.

Nope, that's my Grandparents 22' NR Seahawk. I wish it were mine but I dont have anywhere to store it nor the money to buy/upkeep one.

Yea, its a nice looking machine.  Still nice when someone in the family has one.  I have a 19' older Lund but kayaks are much simpler and more satisfying when fishing.
