Looking to Buy

Don't know if this is the right place to start this thread, but I'm looking to buy a couple of kick drive kayaks to be able to fish in bays and whatnot. Looking to spend less than 2k per kayak (small budget, but it's what I have saved up as a highschooler). Live in Portland, but I am willing to drive. Thanks, it means a lot.

Used pedal-drive kayaks seem to come and go pretty fast this time of year, but your budget is realistic so you should be able to find something. Watch forums and Craigslist like a hawk.

The MSRP for a 2020 Hobie Compass is "only" $2099, which is nearly inside your budget. Similarly, the 2020 Native Slayer Propel 10 lists at $2099 new. So those may be worth considering as well.

If you can wait until fall/winter, some local vendors let demo boats and old stock go for a significant markdown.

Shameless plug: if you'd like a lightweight kayak trailer to haul those two kayaks I have one for sale - $500.

Yeah man, craigslist, facebook messenger, and this site all the way. I've bought all of my fishing kayaks out here used, finding them with those aforementioned sites. Like redbeard said, you gotta be quick if they're posted for sale. Also know what to look for and be prepared to walk away.

Some used Hobies are sold for really high prices, but I know people who've been able to find Adventures/Revos for 1100-1500, and an AI for 1800. Being willing to drive is a plus, too.

Edit to add: If you can narrow down your wants just a little, I'd encourage you to post up a detailed 'WTB' post in the 'Classifieds' section. Include what you're looking for, your location, how far you're willing to drive, at the very least.

Thanks so much. I guess I'm looking to spend around 1.5k so I can buy tackle and other items. Kayak doesn't have to be anything too fancy, just has to have a kickdrive and can withstand the water. It's a beginner kayak for me at this point.
