So what was the story on the huli?

he was turning around to reach something behind him. Something i would think is probably one of the most common reasons.... he was able to self recue himself fast, pretty good for an old man... ;)

That definitely is the most common reason for hulis that I've heard of.  If I need to turn my head to see what I'm doing behind me, then I just go side saddle and avoid the problem.
