Been looking for a slick way to mount a downrigger on my compass. What do you think of this mount with a 90 degree plate for something like a scotty depthmaster? I haven't used a downrigger personally and don't know what kind of load will be put on the side wall. This is just over 3.5 linches tall and would fit well.

Not sure about the Compass, but I have a Scotty Lake Troll and have it mounted in a Scotty Flush mount rod holder base. Seems to work great. The downrigger comes with a regular rod holder base but I didnt want something sticking out if not required.

One of my kayaks has a Scotty 241 base mounted sideways in the map pocket, and the Laketroller as shown works perfectly.  Just enough room to lower the downrigger ball without interfering with the legs while pedalling on a Hobie Revo 13.
