Hello everyone! I started fishing on the Oregon coast almost 2 years ago and did well from shore, but I'm looking to free myself from the land and get into a kayak soon. I'm in the market and interested in picking something up in the next month or 2 to get ready for next spring and summer.

Hello there! This is not a bad time to look for a kayak, depending if you are looking for a used or a new one, you may find some good used deals of people that are upgrading or just getting rid of kayaks they don't want to store over the cold months. Welcome!

I'm looking around, and seeing more supply showing up in the stores. I'm still not decided on what make/model I want, so I figure I should join the group and search the forum. I see used Pro Anglers for sale often, but that's a big and heavy kayak to move around.

Welcome to the forum.  This is a great place to learn.  Don't count out a PA.  A set of wheels negates most of the extra weight and loading it into the bed of a pickup is not bad.  Now if you want to put it on a roof rack.............. then they become challenging.  I agree with skayaker2 that now is not a bad time to be watching your local advertisements.

I see a 2016 PA for sale in the area, but I have to do some research to see if this is a decent deal or something to avoid. No roof racks to be worried about, but I'll have to get creative loading anything in a shortbed tacoma

One of the many bed extender racks would work for the rear support (for any kayak).  Most of them have quite a bit of adjustment.  Fortunately, I have a long bed full sized truck so that is not an issue for me.  One nice thing about the 2016 PAs is they have the drop down skeg which helps tracking on these wide bodies.
