I was perusing Fakebook Marketplace and saw a red Hobie Oasis for sale - no seats, no drives. Hmmm, this rings a bell... Oh yeah, it's Tyler Hicks' old boat. The seller states:

Hobie tandem mirage oasis. No leaks, everything works. has both hobie paddles. NO seats or pedal drives. Obo

But wait - that boat has a patched crack in the seat area. Pretty sketch - almost deceitful, for this to not be mentioned in the post. This reminds me that we cannot hold other folks to the same standard that we hold ourselves to; when buying used, it's good to go in with a critical eye.

Couple things.

Are the photos good enough you are 100% sure it's the same boat without seeing serial numbers.

Maybe the seller is just trying to generate interest and would disclose the issue if people were interested in the boat.

I think they have an account here.  You could ask them.

The photos are not, but chatter on a fishing group confirmed that the boat is ex-Tyler Hicks, and that the seats & drives are being used on an AI/TI.

Maybe! But maybe not. A cracked hull seems like enough of an issue to warrant noting in the listing.
