A survey of catch counts and spawn counts was conducted this season on the Siuslaw by ODFW and some OSU affiliate. I have looked for an analysis of this study but have not found anything yet.  Anyone out there know anything?  Took me until November 6th to catch my one Chinook but I don’t have a fish finder.

That is a question for the Biologist on the Siuslaw... fortunately his handle on this forum is Clayman... if the info is available he is the guy that would know.

lol, thanks for putting me on the spot  :D.

I sent a note to the Corvallis folks who conduct the surveys down there asking about 2020 redd counts, but they may not be done counting just yet (pretty common to see some fall Chinook spawning in February). In general, the 2020 numbers for the Siuslaw River watershed were better than the 2019 return (6k), but still well below the 15-year average of 15k and well below conservation goals.

When the juveniles hit the salt it was basically a hot tub.
