Squid will show up anywhere in the water column. Most of the time they will be at the very bottom. Notice one photo shows a bait ball towards the top and a school of squid at the bottom. These photo were from this last Autumn. Puget Sound market squid reproduce/deposit eggs during this time period. From my casual observations of the ocean market squid eggs, it seems they reproduce during the Summer months.
