Does anyone else have Presidents Day off and want to go fishing?

I'm really not picky as long as it's within a couple hours of Portland.

C&R sturgeon
steelhead
trout
crappie
anything??

I may be able to fish the morning. I've been putting a few things off and I'll be busy most of the afternoon. Willamette am high tides are between 10 and 11 depending on location.

Right now I'm thinking about doing a Swan Island AOTY panfish (crappie) / Willamette C&R sturgeon combo.

Basically launch at Swan Island boat ramp, fish for crappie around the pilings on the way out to the Willamette, fish for sturgeon in the hole just outside Swan Island during the high tide and the return to the boat ramp fishing for crappie again.

I could be convinced to do something else pretty easily.

My wife and I are doing a float trip on Sunday, either the Sandy or Wilson. I could do an early trip but would need to be off the water by about 11am.

Jay,

I have a deal with my wife that I Go fishing with a buddy.  She's never said that person has to stay out with me the whole time  ;D.

I think I'm a prime candidate to get a Spot so my wife can track my online while I fish. :angry7:

I haven't tried crazy yet.  Actually, if someone was willing to vouch for me they wouldn't necessarily have to out on the water with me.  Basically she likes me to have a contact point on my float plan in case I don't return at the designated time.  We all do float plans right?

I've only fished a few times by myself so far, but if i do i tell my buddy Ralph where I'm going and when i plan to return.

Brain,  sprout some hair on those geeknads and install a quick disconnect on the umbilical.  Frankly, I think your wife could take you but maybe Z- will let you borrow his "Bitch be Cool!" stick.   :P

PS  What's a float plan?

Spot, what's your martial status again? ;D

I can't complain too much, I agreed to these terms awhile back when I had no problem finding someone to go fishing with.  Lately it's been difficult to find people to fish with so I'm slowly working on renegotiating my arrangement.

I sure hope your wife doesn't read this site.  If she does, I'm sure I'll be off your list of approved fishing friends list.

Yeah, I just tell Zee, "you go that way and I'll go this way, if you run into any good signs, I'll be on 69".  That's about as good as a plan gets.

The only person that has ever been kicked off my wife's list of approved fishing friends is Joel "Mooch" from NCKA. He showed up to an NCKA group event wearing a well endowed cooking apron and flashed her with it.  She wasn't very amused and questioned my choice to have "internet friends".
