After watching the deteriorating sea forecasts, my wife and I decided to fish the big bay as opposed to Sunset Bay on Wednesday, hoping to be able to go out on Thursday, which still looked reasonably OK. The bay was beautiful, though a bit windy. It was my wife’s first outing in her new Sportsman, and although the learning curve was a bit steep with managing the boat and the fishing, she did awesome. Fishing was good for the short time I was able to focus on it, coming up with 2 fish with 2 drops along the jetty. Ended up with a 32 and towed around a bit with a PB 41, both caught on the same plastic Branson Bait.
Tried fishing out of Sunset the next morning but the seas were much bigger than what was forecast, so it was out and right back in. But still productive in that my wife got to experience the ocean and how to manage her kayak in those kinds of conditions. All in all, a memorable couple of days. Blue skies, safe seas, and tight lines everyone.

The surf predictions change constantly and change quickly along the coast.  It might help if you have a surf app on a mobile phone so you can stand near the bay and see what it looks like compared to the forecasts.
Or use your marine band radio, tuned to the weather, and do the same thing.

That's pretty much how those of us who live here did it.
The fish bite twice a day - just before we get here and right after we leave.

Shoot, who needs the open ocean if you can pull slugs like that out of the bay? Great fish!
