It’s been a few years since I’ve posted so I guess I’ve been sent back to the start line again. Finally made the move to Anchor Point. Not sure how much fishing time I’ll get in due to home construction but I plan to make an effort. Sold the boat, own an Outback, just picked up a 14’ Angler Pro so I’m committed. Only 20 minutes to Whiskey Gulch launch. No excuses now. Look forward to learning from the pros here and the school of hard knocks.

Welcome back Dave. Good to see another Alaskan returning to their 'roots.' (i.e. original inhabitants of AK were kayakers.)  Especially one in the "heart of halibut country!"

I have been threatening to get down to Whiskey Gulch this early summer but am chasing NOAA and Windy.com forecasts all over the place besides home projects. Only takes a day to change the entire forecast....which doesn't seem to be reliable in the first place.

We are starting a neap tide set, small water exchange and I've been eyeballing Thursday and Friday's Whiskey Gulch forecasts. They are calling for <5kts variable (mixed directions) and 1 to 2 ft seas. And on Friday they are calling for rain in the morning with a 10am 16 ft tide and the same <5kts variable wind. Rainy days seem to be more stable weather patterns I've noticed. A 10am tide provides a lot of comfortable fishing time before and after. Hopefully won't need the after.  And not a lot of current in either direction. Plus an extra 16 feet of water depth fishing the high end.

Hope to get down there around 7ish Friday for a leisurely prep and start.

P.S. Not a pro here. Will be my first dip at Whiskey although I've followed all the trials and tribulations of the Alaskan contingent and their outings, results, and experience. Hope that will reduce the school of hard knocks experiences! I prefer to learn from OTHERS' mistakes. LOL  Easier on the body and sometimes the wallet!

Your best weather report is right outside your window. HA. But for looking further down the road here are the sources of WX info I've found to be specific to WG and Anchor Pt.  I look at the whole list, interpret the variations between each source's differences and then toss a coin!

Tide-Forecast site with full weather report Anchor Point (matches the tide book correction adjustments too)
https://www.tide-forecast.com/locations/Anchor-Point-Alaska/forecasts/latest/six_day

NOAA WX for Whiskey Gulch (wave predictions tend to be on the 'optimistic' side of reality)
https://marine.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lon=-151.85988&lat=59.83040

Windy dot com for WG (wind and waves, subject to your own interpretation from first hand observations)
https://www.windy.com/59.827/-151.833?2021-07-02-15,59.822,-151.833,14

Windfinder for WG (similar to Windy w/o wave data. Click a location for bringing up actual wind direction & speed.)

Your proximity to the beach is definitely your ace in the hole. You can make plans on the spur of the moment which is probably your best way to plan. I'm 65 miles back up the road in Soldotna and my Inlet here is often much different than AP and WG.

Jumping Jelly beans! Thanks for the links! Much better than my weather rock. I’ll try to get my stuff together if I can find it after the move. I’m a noob so there will probably a lot of “I didn’t think to bring that” moments. Got start somewhere I guess.

Remember no King fishing within 1 mile of the beach at Wiskey Gulch. I have been catching nice halibut farther out. Hopefully I will make it down to WG Sunday.
