I dunno man...if it's going to be your first time on the salt, I'd wait for a better day. Rest assured, there will be many more days this summer where there is no threat of a south wind and the swell will be smaller. The trouble with a bigger swell at PC and surf launches in general is that even if you get out, coming back in without yardsale-ing could be tricky. Aim for a day where it's like 3 @ 10 seconds or something, and it'll be far less stressful.

Unless you're really just looking to ride some waves and aren't concerned about wiping out and losing gear/fish  :D.

Not that Clayman was referring to me :), but he is 100% correct. Yard Sale on a MUCH better day. First time out, I would wait. I am going up the Nehalem and am staying right across from the beach in PC

lol, not you specifically Bob...though I did read your recent PC report  :D. There must be a trove of gear buried under that sand over the years of yard sales!

I'll probably go Monday myself.
Should be less people.
A day without fishing probably wouldn't kill me,
but why risk it?

Yes. So far Monday seems like the best option. A little more wind, a lot fewer pedestrians.

Curious what others think. I look for under 4’ primary and secondary at 10+ seconds each, winds under 10mph, preferably not from south, small tidal change.
For Saturday MS says 3.5’ and Windfinder says 5’. That said, it might be sporty but it’s doable imo.

I may or may not drive on the beach.
Half the time I do well, the other half, I get stuck.
Yup, channel 69!
