So, I was browsing our local Harbor Freight store and found a cool little box that is built like a Pelican Case with the silicon seal in the lid.  It also has a vent screw in the lid to relieve pressure or vacuum due to altitude changes.   The plastic feels pretty strong and durable as well.

Cool thing was, it cost less than $8 bucks.  It even comes with foam to pad the bottom, front, back and the strap.  Might be something to consider for keeping your wallet, keys, I-Pod, camera, etc.. in while paddling to and from the abyss.

Here is a picture I dug up of it on the net, but it doesn't show up on their normal website for some reason?

There's an o-ring under this vent screw.

Opening is just under 5" wide inside.

About 5-3/4" deep inside with about 1/4" of space in the lid itself.

About 3-1/8" front to back inside.

Foam installed

That would work well for a battery box for the fish finder.

Not yet, but I took pictures of it.  ;D

A battery box would be good. You could just run the wires out the vent screw hole in the top, and goop them.

I found a larger black one there last year that I was able to fit my camera, video camera, lights and flash in for about $19 that I am very satisfied with.  I use a lot of pelican cases for work, but the money doesn't come out of my pocket.  The plastic on the Harbor Freight model isn't as flexible, but i don't plan to toss it out of a moving vehicle or plane.

Should fit no problem.  Mine fits, and it's  6"Lx 2-1/2"W x 4"H
I have the Cabela's 12v 8.0 Ah.  I would have to get creative with the wire management as my battery pretty much takes up the space in the lid where wires could pass through the vent hole.  Your's however should have plenty of clearance.

Nice, I'll be visiting Harbor Freight in Bend soon.  I wonder how it would perform after a 30 min. dunk test?  At $8 bucks that is a good price for a container like that one.  Thanks for the heads up,
Scott

Oh yeah! This one's a winner!  Perfect fit for a 7amp-hr gell-cell. Now all I need is to come up with a waterproof connector.

Wali,
If you are looking for a waterproof way to pass the power cable through the plastic, here is what I'm using. It's called a cable gland.  ;) It's not nearly as big as it seems. My FF power cable just gets through it.

In fact, the photos on the webpage are using the same waterproof project box I bought from them at the same time. As soon as I find and install the final electrical piece of my system, I'll take and post some pics.

Not that I could find at my local HF store.  It was just this one size.

They had a knock-off  Pelican case that measured 14" x 10-5/8" x 6-1/8"  but it was $40.
