Actually, the island of Tristan da Cunha

is the most remote inhabited place in the world.

I like the looks of your island better (South Pacific >> South Atlantic).

Nice image INSAYN!

I'll take the Indian Ocean....  Better waves and we were catching Sailfish and huge Wahoo around this island.

Damn!  I'm wrecked for the day now!

Ther's a bunch of those floating homes around the Pitcair island of Rikitea, which is where that one is.  Downside is vulnerable to tsunami and hurricane.

spent 4 days on an island just like that off the coast of Malaysia last summer.  The accommodations were more sparten but the snorkeling was amazing and it was 50 bucks a day for room and board.

1st thing you have to look at is the cost of the plane ticket..  I can't remember the name of the island, I'll ask the wife when I get home.  The waters around the island were a no take marine reserve so no fishing :( but the fish were thick on the reefs including sharks).  It was run by a chinese family.. we where the only westerners there.  They provided three meals plus tea time a day BUT it was local food.. Buffet style, lots of rice, dishes with tons of dried fish and tiny shrimp in them, fake meat product (for the muslims) my fav was scrambled eggs with dried fish flakes.  There was a family of 4 from Germany that had been there for 4 weeks straight! There were huge montior lizzards roaming around, giant bats and our room had a daily  rat (we hoped they were rats)  rodeo above the ceiling almost constantly. But we loved every minute of it

yeah there were a few of those.. But that water was WARM and clear, coming from the NW is was almost unimaginable. We also spent close to a week in their largest national park looking for elephants, saw everything but elephants and I learned that me and anti malarial meds don't mix. Heres the local "yak" on inland rivers
