Hey all,

Anyone planning on hitting Fogarty this upcoming weekend for some salmon? Planning on trying my first attempt fishing Fogarty.

Anything I should know? Eg. how far out, how deep I should fish, spinners, herring, etc. anything helps. Still trying to land the first kayak salmon!

Thanks!

If the forecast holds I believe there will be several of us there. What you are trolling g probably isn't as important as where. Brad's cut plugs are always a good choice. A plug cut herring would absolutely get bit, I would prefer smaller herring.

It seems as though last weekend the action was picking up beyond the 120 foot depth. I personally don't mind throwing out my gear once I am over 50 feet or so. For coho you don't need to go deep.

July 5th I hit my first coho at 130ft straight out from Fogarty. I kept going and caught a few more between 195 and 215 fow. Everything I got was small, around 20 inches. 2 wild, 1 hatchery. Triangle flasher and a Brad's cut plug at 30ft on the line counter 10oz of lead. Didn't see as many fish as I was hoping (nothing like last year when they were in). Always nice to get out though! Good luck!

Was there on the 4th with a few others and everyone did well 120-180'  Had a solid bite early at 130'. Same basic setup as Cackalacky. Probably going to be there Sat and Sun if the forecast holds. Was pretty damn nice out there on Monday. The weather looks to be as good if not better.

Anybody up for Fogarty tomorrow … Friday?
I’m hoping to launch shortly after 6am and be done before the afternoon breeze. Would love some company.

I'll be launching around 7 at PC tomorrow (Saturday), dropping a pot then trolling west. I'll be serving up a superbait or herring for any coho (preferably clipped) or any chinook that want to come eat.

Does anyone know if you could use two rods for salmon at PC?

One rod, I think for all ocean salmon.
A day without fishing probably wouldn't kill me,
but why risk it?

All ocean fishing. Well, anything you can get to from shore in a kayak. One rod.

Thanks for all the info! Anyone ever use spinners for ocean coho? If so, what size?

I have no doubt t that if you were to drag a #4 or 5 Blue Fox around it would get bit. Just need to change out the treble hook and pinch the barb. I am sure a 3.5 spinner would also get smacked behind a 360 flasher.
Most people will troll Brad's cut plugs or cut plug herring.

When you do get into a good school, casting a spinner would be a hoot. So many times after landing a salmon you get slammed as you start to let line out. Had numerous bites with less than 10 feet of line out.

Couldn’t make it to Fogarty today but managed to wrestle this one into the yak much closer to home. Still would like to hit Fogarty tomorrow for my sons first trip, but some of the water temp discussions have me thinking of going back where I was today. Looking forward to reports.

Was fairly slow at Fogarty today. Decent  # of drivebys at times. I only ended up with one chunky hen coho. Only salmon to boat. Released two lings. Kinda wish I'd gone to PC.
