ANybody have experience with doing this???  What's the skinny regarding
duty at US border, etc???   I bought my 50hp Honda in Vancouver a few years back, there was no duty.

Duty rules should apply if the value exceeds what's in the rules.  However, I'm guessing that if a customs agent sees a used kayak on your vehicle, they'll think it's yours and not a purchase.  Note: I'm not encouraging anyone to skirt the rules.  It's just an observation I have.  I've brought more kayaks up and back than the number of people I have in my truck.  I've been asked about it before at the border and just informed them that I was bringing up an kayak for a buddy in another vehicle (which was the truth).  It wasn't an issue.

i cross the border all the time...if its used i dont think there will be any issue at all...course it all depends on how it goes down as they strip search you

if the kayak was made in US or canada or mex it should be included in NAFTA so there would be no duty...if it is made in italy or europe and NEW there could be some duty
