early quality chinook have moved up river, coho run is underway but more jumping than biting so far, 2 for 2 after 5 days out and have only seen just a few more netted. hoping for a big push of chinook after a few very storming days starting Sun.

'big picture' update- similar to what I've heard from some other rivers, chinook returns still looking a bit light but a decent run of real nice coho are showing up to play.

Pepper and I hit the chrome jackpot for our '1 and done' Siuslaw coho just after high tide on Friday, right along 126 by the RR bridge.  Hot 28" buck that came right at the kayak after hooking up, then peeled out line away from us.

We are heading to Siltcoos on Sunday for our annual opening day recon trip, Lake coho thread coming soon.  cheers, roger

quick update-  great coho bite Monday but by Thursday it was gone.   hobster, SD2OR and I were out over 7 hours on the lower river and the warm east wind seems to have shut down the coho bite and still no real sign of more chinook moving in.  only saw 3 coho caught the entire day but one was by SD2OR.

Lost a big one at the boat, and landed a small one. After numerous trips chasing salmon, without so much as a drive by, I consider it a good day. Need to start bringing Nucky, my good luck pup, more often!
A day without fishing probably wouldn't kill me,
but why risk it?
