Ended up at Sunset Bay around 0730, easy launch and parking. Ramp is getting narrow with the asphalt falling apart, but still usable.  Meandered towards Simpsons reef hitting a couple spots alongside the way.  Could see the power boat armada lined up as soon as you cleared the bay.  15-20+ boats working the area the entire time I was there.  I can imagine the northern places were at least as busy.
Ended up with a good number of rockfish, couple nice cabezon and barely legal ling.  Mainly worked 60' and shallower with lancers and jigging spoons. Hoped for a couple nice ling, but overall a nice start to the year

excellent, surprised you didn't get into more lingcod.  any other day than yesterday (HOA board meeting) and I would have been out there for sure.

In case the "Ocean" is listening, March 21 is my next "can't go fishing, HOA meeting day", so feel free to toss out the next smooth day on ANY OTHER THAN March 21!   lol

Got to PC around 7:30 and the east wind was kicking up pretty good.  Swell was minimal though making for an easy launch.  A good number of kayakers there, I'd guess 8-10 along with plenty of dory boats.  Started jigging the 4oz lancers & Ling bite was decent for me starting out, mostly undersized and one about 25 in. that I released in hope of some nicer ones.  Picked up a couple decent rockfish and then the bite slowed for a bit.  Finally picked up again and retained a couple of 26 inchers.  Found a couple more decent rockfish over the next hour or so and tossed a few more undersized lings before hooking up with a 29 incher to round out the limits and called it a day.  Perfect day out except for the wind, but it was manageable.
