Sunset Bay Monday March 16

forecast seems to be holding...hoping to give some of my Newport herring a bounce off the bottom at Simpson Reef and see who's home...

beautiful day out of Sunset bay but I just didn't land any big lingcod, fished mostly off the west end of Simpson Reef plus a few other productive rocky bottom areas, released a dozen legal lings under ~26"and ended up keeping a 26" and 25".  Did lose a couple that might have been larger.  Near the end, really wanted that third lingcod but that's when the undersize started eating my final few herring. 

pulling full crab pots from 70' on a low swell day is work, amazing how much a bit of swell really helps.  both my pots were stuffed full, rolled them on the bow no problem but lots of females, got 4 keepers in this one, 3 in the second pot.

just an average catch day but a 5 star smooth ocean day!
