Siuslaw RR Bridge Launch

For those familiar with the Siuslaw river, there is a large Port of Siuslaw BL, RV park, and Marina near Old Town, just above the 101 bridge, plus the primitive launch just below the 101 bridge at Exploding Whale Park and until a couple years ago when it closed, a launch at Cushman, just below the RR bridge.

The launch at Cushman is open again,  , Port of Siuslaw has taken over it and the RV park across 126 from it.  I spoke with Mary at the Port office today and she said it is fine for kayakers to launch there and park without any fee for now.  The launch still needs repairs, boats need to be careful especially at low tide, and there will eventually be a 'parking fee' (same as for the big Port launch in Florence), but for now, no fee.

Didn't help me catch anything today but I'll be out again tomorrow...

Wish I had known that.  I was there today but didn’t launch because of the signage that said the launch was closed.  Went back to Tiernan where I had to ride the tide upriver.  Was pretty quiet up there.  Heard of fish being caught around the motor homes.  How was the wind out there Roger?

Not much wind Tuesday, definitely not an issue below RR Bridge and along 126.

Thursday looks like a higher wind day this week.

Was wondering what other Siuslaw kayakers used as a source to get their information about wind on the river?

I use NOAA marine hourly forecast for the river by zooming in on the wide area just above Florence, where the N. Fork comes in, and clicking there, then selecting hourly forecast and checking the next few days.
