If memory serves me correct (and it rarely does) someone posted here awhile back who had ordered a Flux Jet kayak and was planning on using it to fish tidewater on the Siuslaw.  I haven’t seen this kayak on the river where I’ve been fishing but if this has happened I would love to hear a non-biased report about how this kayak performed.  Thanks, Crabman

I had put down a deposit on one, was supposed to get it in July. Was excited for a while, then videos started being posted by new owners. I saw that it handled minimal chop quite poorly, as well as really not going very fast. From the start, I really did not like that there was no convenient internal storage. I use the center hatch and side pockets on my outback extensively. I really like the layout of the deck on my Hobie, as well as having the mirage drive in addition to a motor.

So, I got my deposit back and purchased a Newport NK300 and mounted it on my stern. Have only used it a handful of times, as I'm still competing  in AOTY, but I love thing already. It will do 7 mph with no wind or current, I actually almost went 10mph the other day, going downstream on the Willamette. The battery I have powering it , will last an easy 2, possibly 3 days on the water before being depleted.

I had no specific plans to hit the siuslaw with the flux, so not sure if I was the only one planning to get one, of if there was someone else.

The fluxjet is a cool concept, and I'm sure works just fine for most people, but there are very few occasions when I actually need to go thru dense weeds or travel in just inches of water. It strikes me as a boat that would be best for guys that mostly or only fish for bass. I must say tho, the owners of the company are very polite, easy to communicate with, really listen to customer feedback, and are doing their best to make a quality product.

Just my 2 cents.
A day without fishing probably wouldn't kill me,
but why risk it?
