Four brave souls set forth upon the windswept, wave ridden sea at Sunset Bay. The fish saw us coming, and  mostly avoided our advances. Noggin Yakker, CBY, Merlin, and myself, Goldendog, all caught fish. Unfortunately, most were underlings, or as Ralph calls them, Chinese Lingcod, Wee Lings. I managed to get one nice 17 inch Black, a medium Black, and a Greenling. I also caught one of the Wee Lings, all of about 10 inches. All in all, it was nice to get back on the big blue. Oh, and don't mention cameras to CBY! Fish bags were also a sore subject for Merlin today!

Tell me CBY didn't make another sacrifice to the fish gods!?!?!?!?   :o

Dang, he must really be serious about winning this year!

Nothing good to report. NOAA lied to us. It was alot rougher then we expected. The wind came up early. We fished the south side of Sunset for a couple hours. dave and jesse managed a couple Blacks, jesse's nicer black did a houdini and escaped from his fish bag. . Karl caught a couple underlings and I did the same plus two greenlings.

We are hoping to get an early session in tomorrow morning before karl leaves to go back north.

A little frustrated by the conditions but Karl had a good time anyway, so it's all good

I didn't lose my Camera, just dropped it in the wet sand...twice..grrrr..

Dave, that's a greenling you caught, not a Lingcod
See ya on the water..

You are correct sir! After a little research, the fish in the photo is a female greenling, which I released. I did, however, keep a larger male greenling. It was the spots and color that confused me. It's only been 28 years since I caught both genders of greenling. I guess the mind plays strange tricks over such a period of time!

Roy,
Although the less than perfect conditions made the fishing tough, I had a great time.

Regarding the droppings of your camera; I barely suppressed my urge to laugh out loud when the god of wind lifted your 'open' dry bag out of your yak, dumping your camera into a slurry of sand and water. Then, after we rinsed the camera with freshwater, I could not suppress my laughter when, while shaking the camera vigorously up and down to remove as much water as possible, you lost your grip and threw the camera back into the slurry with enough velocity to elicit attention from major league scouts.  :sign10: This should actually be ROSL... "S" "sand"

I hope to add some photos tonight. I've added them to my gallery, but no time to add them here right now.

Thanks to everyone who paddled out. And, thanks, Roy G. , for the tackle tray for my Outback. I'll send your hog trough as soon as I receive the two I ordered... or, if they haven't shipped yet (it's a pretty safe bet that they haven't) I wonder if Brian can ship one of the two I ordered with CBY's order?

As the all time Asshat champion, I know a potential wearer when I see one.  And this sentiment has Asshat written all over it.  ;D

I agree and I pushed the "make asshat" button.  Congratulations Noggin Yakker you get to wear this for one week or until someone earns it away from you.

Great photos Karl! You were very brave risking your Nikon DSLR, but the results were worth it. The true conditions came across better on your photos than on mine.

COOL! I've wondered what it takes to get the Asshat.... now I know! ;D  Roy, sorry for sharing that story, but I still laugh every time I think about it. I also laugh every time I think about how I recently donated a paddle to the Ebey Slough, sturgeon god (yes, I'm the certain individual referred to in the Paddle Leash thread). ::)

It occurs to me that the Asshat looks similar to the hat I was wearing in my forum photo (see below). Coincidence? I think not! >:D

Dave,
I like your photos too, but.... who's the old dude in the red Hobie?  :-\ Thanks for taking that photo. As soon as I lose the Asshat, that photo will be my new forum picture.

Guess I should post a few photos here too.

Loaded and ready to head out

Time to hit the hay....oh wait, I'm wearing the Asshat... It's time to eat some hay.
