Maybe it was the Friday the 13th thing but the "leash" on this net fell apart :dontknow:
It's a double looped 1/8" bungee with a small clip at the end. Come to think of it, this was the first time I had it on the water (maybe the 2nd). The rubber inside the bungee seems to have dry rotted or something. The net itself is fine, but if I were you and I had one, I'd replace the bungee asap.

Pic on the left is the net with the original bag. Pic on the right is with the replacement bag large enough for small children or springers (which ever comes first)

Just make sure you change the net out before the tiny screws rust in place. As Wali would say, don't ask how I know...

Wali.. have you netted a salmon with that net?  I can't imaging netting a fish with a short handle net like yours, especially  when using a long leader herring set up.

I used a 4ft handle, smaller salmon net on my clack yak steelhead and it worked ok, I think I will add a float of some kind (poolnoodle?) right near the basket to keep the basket on the surface while fighting fish. I laid the handle across my lap with the hoop/bag in the water, it worked fine but the hoop end wanted to sink I think a float on the handle right below the hoop would stop this.

I've landed a couple of kings with the original net. However, none yet with the larger one.

Something that works well for gaffs is to pour some 2 part foam VERY quickly into the bottom of the handle. Won't sink and doesn't add very much weight.

Don't see why it wouldn't work for a net.

West Marine or TAP plastic has it.
