With all the request for rigging information and details y'all ought  to organize a rigging day (says the man on his way back FL) to swap lies and compare rigs (kind of a show and tell). A picture may be worth a 1000 words, but nothing says "ahhaa" like putting your hand on it.

Maybe hook up with a local retailer or club. I did it once a while back with the Northwest Steelheaders, but many of the (considerably) older gentlemen looked at me like I had three heads when I got to the part about a drysuit and getting "in" the water. Perhaps they are ready to try it again. I met Allen in person for the first time at a paddle day down here. Only problem there was he was the only fisherman (and paddlers mostly just paddle :dontknow: )
Come on guys, GLF wants to see an anchor rig* and everybody wants to know how to get dressed.

*Told you we'd get around to teasing you ;D besides, everybody else wants to see an anchor rig too.

Alder Creek has a Demo Day/Paddle Fest at the end of April.  I'll be working the Ocean Kayak booth and a kayak fishing seminar.  Rigging (at least my version of it) will be part of the exhibit.

Another option.. I should be getting a promo copy of the new kayak fishing movie "Game On" pretty soon.  I haven't heard back from the publisher about having a formal viewing, but if we find a place to do a rigging day with a decent TV I could show that as well.

For a total newcomer like myself, this sounds like a great idea. Wish Portland weren't 5 hours away ...

Isn't everything at least 5 hours away from the state of Jefferson?

We used to do this once a quarter with our offroad buggies.  Called it a Meet and Greet.  Usually met at a pizza place, or BBQ joint.  Then everyone would eat, chat, tell lies and then go out and kick tires and see what everyone was working on.

Sounds like a cool way to have a get together, and do some show and tell.   I vote that FFTW shows everyone the "shimmy dance", I really wanna see this performed live.

Doesn't BS have the "Secret Fish Dance" on video somewhere?  Would make a good intro for the "Game ON" screening.

The sooner the better! I'm looking to drill a few holes this weekend.
