Have really put some thought into a downrigger for coho fishing but what I do works and if it aint broke..

It seems that when you're fishing in the top 20-30 ft for coho a downrigger would probably be more hassle than it's worth.

Yep, coho is such a shallow water game I wouldn't worry about it too much. Although there are times when the coho will be running a little deeper, around 60', so the downrigger does have it's time and place.

Zee... I have never tried the coho killer, they work well up your way?

As the name implies. Pretty much the standby for Coho and Blackmouth. Green spatterback and purple haze in UV are my personal faves.

The white lightning coho killer is my fave----will catch blackmouth too.

I read somewhere that there'll be no commercial king salmon season on California coast for the 2nd year in row.

Or Oregon for that matter.

I mostly use a downrigger and 8" is my fav. You can downsize to a 0 dodger to deal with drag if it's becoming an issue while mooching it..
