While searching for "self rescue" I saw the Portland gang held a safety clinic last August. Any plans for a similar event this year? I know almost nada about safe yakking.

Sure why not.   Are you willing to come up this way?

If you're referring to the 'event' at Hagg Lake, it was pretty informal. Only 3-4 showed up. We flopped into the water a few times and climbed back on. I was surprised how far I had to purposely lean to flip the Big Game.

Once the water warms up, I'm sure we'll be doing it again. I'll bet that if you find yourself coming up sometime, you'll easily get a few of us to join you.

in the tacoma/ oly area, try www.azimuthexpeditions.com, click on their link for 'courses' at the bottom..

we also have [ had?] a member in oly, kiwi paddler , i think, whose business is kayak instruction. look him up in our members listing, he has a web site..

was some mention back a few months about a seattle area safety clinic.. don't think it panned out past the "yuantto' stage...

I'd be down for another clinic, maybe mid-late May?
