I have a friend that wants to dive at the south cove on Wednesday and I already promised him I would go with him (though I will be kayak fishing while he dives). Other wise I would love to try Baltimore rock. Maybe I can talk the wife into letting me go out twice this week since I have not been able to go out in the last month.

The cove should be pretty nice on Wednesday though with the North swell. Should be smooth water. Got my fingers crossed for my first kayak ling.
Enjoy the ride!

Hey Roy, you might want to start putting an actual date in the title of your Sunset posts.   Do you know how many "Sunset today", "Sunset tomorrow", "Sunset this week" posts you have?  It makes it difficult to go back and find a specific old report of yours.  Maybe that's your plan.. :confused5:

My Friend Chris and I got to the cove at about 9:30 yesterday morning. The weather sucked but the water looked flat so we decided to give it a shot. We loaded all of his dive gear onto my kayak, put the kayak on the cart and started down the hill. With in a few feet we realized the cart was not handling the extra weight of the dive gear very well so we carried the gear the whole way down.
The visibility was bad so he only stayed in the water for about half an hour then made his way back to shore. I fished for a few more minutes then felt bad for him sitting on the rocks so I went in. The fishing was pretty good. I got four blacks in the kayak and three in my bag (one slippery sucker managed to jump out of my hands before I could get him in the bag).
The cart broke within about ten feet on the trip back up so we carried his dive gear up to the truck then went back for the kayak.
I can't wait to get another shot at the cove when I can stay longer then forty minutes. The pack down and back out may be a little harder then other places, but the cove is a relaxed enjoyable place to fish.
Enjoy the ride!

that's a rough trip for 40 minutes of fishing, but good job on catching a bunch so quickly.

I'm gonna try to get out at Sunset tomorrow early for a little salt action...
See ya on the water..

I might join you this morning Roy. It will just depend on how I feel after work.

As far as the trip down to the cove, for me its not to bad. Once I get a better kayak cart I see myself fishing the cove a lot. I don't think I will ever make another trip down there for 35 minutes of fishing though.
Enjoy the ride!

4/17-19: Coming that way. Want to target perch & ling. Need sand shrimp & mussels. Got lots of clam bait & some squid; works pretty good for perch & greenling. Whole squid for cabs & lings.

Springers sound good. Where? Can I come? Email me about the perch intel, por favor (location, species, etc.). I'll call you Friday. Anyone else?

Actually, you can do a drive by and see how many boats are there on Friday..Springers, launch at Scottsburg park, troll below the hog line... You know where that is right?

I've heard rumors of large Perch(Perchis Gigantus) Ok, i don't know what type they are. around the bridge and pilings that's on Horsfal road going to the dunes. I checked it out and there is a reasonably easy launch.

Shh, don't tell anyone else... ;)

Thanks for the perch tip Roy. I am thinking about trying Empire again for Perch today, but maybe I will head over to horsefall if empire is a bust.
Enjoy the ride!
