Exactly!  Why does the south east part of the nation get all the good stores?

Ummm...cause the southeast is better...duh!

i wish there was a bass pro shop up this way...and i wish Washington had dicks sporting goods...wish they had the good cooking of the southeast too (not saying the cooking up here is bad it just ain't the same)

if we could only have our cake and eat it too...

My local Albertsons usually gets farm-raised catfish and I often have salt-cured country ham sent in from Harper's Hams in Kentucky.  Thank God for mail order- BPS and southern food are still part of my life despite the miles between us.

You mean here.  :-\

http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CFPageC?appID=94&storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&

The drive to the nearest one would pretty much make it nill to bother looking for a bargain.  And we can order online from a zillion places with equal or better prices.    I did chat with a guy at Sports Authority the other day, and he mentioned that at least in the Beaverton/Hillsboro area they are going to start stocking fishing gear in the stores.  Right now it is all online only.   I just hope their selection is reasonable.  Seems like most chain stores carry gobs of fancy trout and bass gear, yet ziltch on surf, or bottom fishing gear.

Splain to me why BPS would find Las Vegas or Mesa Arizona to be a good location for a fishing/hunting outfit over anywhere in Oregon or Washington?

WR-  I have yet to find a mom 'n pop store still in business around greater Seattle that caters to warmwater species beyond a few token products.  Outdoor Emporium is my only option now (unless I drive to Cabela's)to get bass'n gear.

Now that BPS opened a NORCAL location, I think it is only a matter of time before we get one here.  As more mom 'n pop stores and larger ones fold too... we will be left with only the sporting goods bellwethers and a handfull of waterfront baitshops and chrome-only stores.

Yar-

There is a pops (not too many Moms in there ::)) kind of place with a pretty good selection just to the east of I-5 at the Snoho/King County line. Take the Lake Forest Park exit, going east, and it's in the first shopping center on the north side of the road. Kind of dingy, but they have stuff I don't see anywhere else. For the life of me, I can't remember the name. ??? :-\

I believe it's Angler's Choice. No? If so yeah, good selection of gear just kinda old.

I've been to Angler's Choice a few times.  I met those guys at the Outdoor show and decided to throw some business their way, but it is pretty far out of my way for what they have in stock.  Selection and quantity are always a problem at these really small shops- the exception to this being Big Wally's near Banks Lake.  I can't wait to head out there again.

If you want to fish, too, I'd give it a week or two to warm up. Temps aren't quite 50, and fish were kind of lethargic, this past weekend. Should pop, soon, though. ;D

I dropped a little coinage at Big Wally's, too. ::)

Not in the slightest.  Big Wally's is essentially a back room connected to a Shell Station on the way in/out from Banks Lake.  That place has more bass stuff than any Wally World in the South.
