I always kinda thought that thresher sharks were supposed to be good eating also...but i could be remembering wrong...

back home i know they ate blue shark...mako was the preferred meat but people were content with blue shark from what they told me

we never marinated our shark in milk...ive heard of it but honestly i don't really know what the point is....

most of the shark we ate we caught cleaned on the spot and took it up and fried it right then...no freezing or anything...that's the best way...

Thresher and mako is good eats indeed.

Milk helps to  neutralize any remaining urea in the meat.  I soaked the salmon shark meat in it and it made a difference.

The crispy flounder kind of sounds like Blackened Redfish.  Pretty popular in the South.  Fish is for the most part charred on the outside but cooked so fast the inside is perfect.  The secret is getting a cast iron skillet smoking hot.  I've tried it at home but never been able to get the skillet hot enough on a regular stove top. 

I bet something like a fish cooker, with an open burner you could set the skillet on, and mega BTU's would work.

Thresher is awesome. Probably the only shark you'll find on a restaurant menu. Yep, sharks pee through their skin so the milk bath can help in getting it out. Like PP I always soak sharkmeat in milk. PP's salmon shark was damn good!

More important than bathing in milk, is bleeding a shark IMMEDIATELY upon harvest....  This gets the majority of the Urea out of them quickly, as they carry it through their bodies in their blood.

Here in Texas we catch them all the time.  Bullsharks, blacktips, spinners, sandbars......

You may want to check out my video...it's not great, but Oscar filmed it using his head-cam for the 1st time.

If you can't figure out what is going on, we suspend our bait underneath a balloon.  Usually the balloon just breaks off when a shark hits.  In this case, the knot was left on the line, and I couldn't reel in any further.  Fortunately, Oscar was able to help me out....
