Is that a relief slot I see in the IR Union Suit?

oh yes. essential component. the stretch neck entry is a bit different, but it does stay a bit warmer than the union suit I have with zippered front entry. downside is no pulling the zipper to vent.

on the drybags, haven't used the backpack versions. I have a few rafting friends that love them, but the straps always get in the way for me when shoving through hatches. I mostly use the Ocoee bags. small enough to fit most hatches, and hold a good amount of gear. plenty of lash tabs if you're tying down on the deck, and handles for carrying them around.

If you're going camping it might be nice but overall keeping gear to a minimum is key to kayak fishing.

"Camping" is when room service is late.    :)

One of the advantages of a dry suit is you get to your launch point fully clothed and need not strip down in the cold and public such as with a wet suit.  What are you wearing under the union suit and what are you wearing over the union suit that is also under the dry suit - if anything?

I normally wear just the union suit and drysuit. Really cold days I put a think polypro layer under the union, but that's rare. When heading out, I put the union suit on at the house with street clothes over it and put my drysuit on before I launch. When I'm done, peel the suit, put back on the street clothes, and drive home.
