lost than never to have hooked at all.

But let me tell you, hooking and winning kicks ass!

Spent an hour fishing with Nanook and TXPaddler this morning before I tagged out and switched to sturgeon.  Picked up 5 shakers but didn't find my keeper.

It was nice meeting you guys!  Hope we get to fish together again soon!!

It is confirmed, Spot is the freakin man.

By the time I retied and resnagged and retied, Spot is headed off for sturgeon. TXPaddler & I fished until 1, when he left for work. I fished a few more hours and hooked what looked like a native around 2:30 right on that seam Spot ;). Fought it for a minute until I thought he was tired, but I rushed it and bumbled the landing. Lost within reach of my boat, and almost took a swim. I'm stoked just to have played a fish.

I trolled for another hour and caught a fry smaller than my herring then headed home.

Thanks again Spot for showing us the ways of the Jedi. Love to get another opportunity to do it again. I have learned a load this spring from this site and you guys. Springers aint easy. That's for sure. (except for Spot)

Thanks guys!

Noggin Yakker - that image is sooooo being added to my screen saver.

FFTW - You are THE original PDX yak fisher and any praise from you means twice as much.

Nanook - I'm really glad you managed to hook up.  It's all about the roll, depth and speed.  Way to put it into action!

BTW: I grilled up a fillet for lunch today and OMG is that some good salmon!  8)

Spot: Is your huge fish clip thingy attached to your yak in some fashion? By the way, that is a very lovely salmon ...

In that image I have it clipped to my paddle leash.  A little later it was clipped to my rod pod strap.  And later still it was clipped to my crate.  That's the beauty of that clip, I can attach it to anything in my yak.

FYI:  I've taken to immediately clipping any large fish I catch.  Even before removing a hook or taking out of the net.  It's amazing how a dead fish can muster just enough energy to leap back in the water and sink to the bottom.....  Don't ask my how I know.

Yep yep yep! Big flatties have the ability to give you a lapdance, smack you in the face and leave the scene. Nothing more upsetting than that. :'(

This probably belongs in the "Don't ask me how I know" thread, but I've learned the hard way that getting a flattie in the bag does not mean it is going home with me. >:( One blew through my net a few years ago and Fishin' T had a good time watching.
